La Barca Loca (“The Crazy Boat”)

236 The Prado
Owned by Melicent Remy and Hollie Stott

This historical replica of a nineteenth century farmhouse was built in 1996 from blueprints that came from Historical Replications, Inc. out of Jackson, Mississippi. Purchased by the present owners, Melicent Remy and Hollie Stott, in 2004, this home is eclectic and filled with interesting pieces. The Apalachicola locale, as well as the compact nature of the house, inspired the nautically-themed décor which features many indigenous, familial and local art collections. The gardens and interior carpentry were enhanced by special projects, including a living room bar constructed from all “found materials.” La Barca Loca or “The Crazy Boat” is a metaphor for the imagined seafaring adventures from which these treasures were garnered.
