Buzzett Home
145 Bay Ave. (Owned by Susan Buzzett Clementson)

This charming cottage was built upon the site that was once occupied by the grand Mohr home which burned. Billy Buzzett commissioned local builder, Neuman Marshall, to erect this home for himself and his new bride, Betty; it was completed in 1939. In 1946, the Buzzetts acquired the bay property across the street from the home which was lovingly attended to by Betty for many years. In 1999 this property was purchased from the family by the city of Apalachicola which promised to maintain it as a park in perpetuity. Many changes and additions were made to the house over the years. An extensive renovation occurred in 2002/2003 much of which honored its original design. The house has always remained in the hands of the Buzzett family. Current owner, Susan Buzzett Clementson states that “The restoration of my childhood home has taken me on an incredible nostalgic journey….My journey has allowed me to preserve the home my parents built as a young couple, that my mother maintained after my father’s death, that my own children and nieces and nephews continue to love and enjoy.”
